PURPOSE AND NATURE OF WORK
This position performs mechanical tasks in the installation, cleaning, and testing of water meters. Some minor repairs may be performed. Work includes customer contact and is subject to periodic 24-hour call.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications include computer skills and a familiarity with the Lafayette area. Graduation from high school and some experience in the repair of small machines and mechanical devices or related; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Possession of Class II Water Distribution certification as administered by the State of Louisiana, within two years of appointment is desirable. Valid driver’s license required to apply.
NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATION
- Valid Louisiana driver’s license prior to appointment required.
- Ability to maintain functioning telephone.
- Ability to arrive on site within 30 minutes of being notified for after-hour call-out.
TYPE OF EXAMINATION - Examination will be a multiple-choice test.
