PURPOSE AND NATURE OF WORK

Perform non-routine and complex technical work on civil engineering projects on LUS’s Water Distribution and/or Wastewater Collection Systems, with responsibility for applying theory and principles of civil engineering toward planning, designing, and conducting a complete project or a portion of a larger and more diverse project.  Scope of work may involve capital projects and private or commercial developments. Also includes preparation of bid packages and plans review for compliance with specifications and procedures.  Perform field inspections and make recommendations as needed.  May perform advanced surveying duties and GIS map creation.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS     

Associate’s Degree or completion of a technical specialty program of eighteen months – three years duration in civil engineering technology and significant prior working experience in the civil engineering field incorporating the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position. 

TYPE OF EXAMINATION - Rating of education and experience through a structured interview to gauge level of experience with related work and education.
