PURPOSE AND NATURE OF WORK

Provides a complete range of customer service to Lafayette Utilities System customers including assisting new and existing customers with electric, water, wastewater, and garbage services. After completion of training, incumbents work with substantial independence in all but the most unusual tasks. Incumbents report to a Customer Service Supervisor.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of high school supplemented by customer service experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

APPRENTICESHIP

Positions in this class will be assigned to an apprenticeship as defined by Civil Service Rule IV, Section 6. This program requires the employee to complete initial and ongoing training requirements as established by Lafayette Utilities System within twenty-seven months for continued employment. Successful completion of the steps of the apprenticeship program involves pay increases, pending funding.

\TYPE OF EXAMINATION—Examination will be a written test.
