PURPOSE AND NATURE OF WORK

Acting as lead worker for a small staff, this position is responsible for cleaning, making repairs, and performing minor construction projects in a public building or functionally-related group of buildings. Performs daily inspection of buildings and equipment, notes need for repairs or maintenance, and independently performs, directs, or coordinates work.  Monitors and coordinates contract services performing larger maintenance, repair or construction projects, and grounds maintenance, as assigned by management. Current opening is with the Lafayette Public Library.  Applicants under this area of assignment should be comfortable working at heights of up to 30 ft in order to access high ceilings, HVAC systems, etc. of tall building using a genie lift.  This vacancy requires a valid Louisiana driver’s license prior to start, and experience pulling and backing a trailer is preferred.  Future vacancies within the classification may not have the same requirement.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of high school with industrial technology training, and substantial experience in maintenance of sizable buildings.

TYPE OF EXAMINATION

Examination will be a multiple choice test.
